Specific Requirements For Indiana Motorcycle License Plates
Today, I’d like to discuss how to display your license plate on your motorcycle in Indiana.
How To Display A License Plate
Indiana has a specific statute that regulates how a license plate should be displayed on a motorcycle. It must be displayed on the rear of the motorcycle, hung horizontally and fastened securely so it will not swing. It must be at a height of no less than 12 inches measured from the ground to the bottom of the license plate.
Visibility Is Important
In addition, it must be free of any obstructions so that it is clearly visible. This includes any opaque material that might cover the license plate. It also must be illuminated by a white light so it is clearly visible at night.
Be Sure To Install Your License Plate Mount Properly
Do not install or modify your license plate mount so that it hangs at an angle or is positioned vertically to the ground. This is not in compliance with the Indiana statute and you would be issued a ticket as a result.
